A decant is a small measured portion of a fragrance drawn directly from the original bottle — typically 2ml, 5ml, or 10ml — and transferred into a clean spray vial for sampling or everyday carry. At RareScents, our decants come from authentic, sealed full bottles sourced directly from our suppliers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. You're getting the real fragrance, in a format that makes sense for how most people actually explore new scents.

Why Decants Make More Sense Than Full Bottles

Niche and Middle Eastern fragrances are not cheap. A quality Arabic EDP typically costs $150–$350 AUD for a full bottle. Buying blind — without testing on your own skin in real conditions — is how people end up with expensive bottles they never wear.

The problem isn't the fragrance. It's that fragrance is intensely personal. The same oud that smells extraordinary on one person can turn metallic or cloying on another. Your skin chemistry, body temperature, diet, and even the humidity on a given day all affect how a fragrance develops. Reviews help you narrow down, but they cannot predict your skin.

A 2ml decant gives you enough fragrance for 4–6 full wears — enough to experience all three stages (top, heart, base), across multiple days and temperatures, before you decide whether a full bottle is worth it. That's genuinely useful information. A test strip in a store is not.

How Our Decants Are Prepared

Each decant is drawn from an authenticated, sealed full bottle purchased through our official supply chain. We use dedicated clean atomisers — not shared across fragrances — and each vial is capped and labelled before dispatch. Decants are not tested on skin before packaging.

We do not buy or resell pre-made decants from third parties. Every decant in this collection is prepared in-house from our own inventory.

The Right Way to Use Decants

To get the most useful testing data from a decant, wear it the same way you would a full bottle:

• Apply to a clean pulse point — inner wrist or the crook of your elbow
• Don't rub wrists together — this crushes the top notes and gives a misleading first impression
• Give it at least 30 minutes before judging — top notes evaporate quickly and the real character emerges in the heart and base
• Wear it for a full day at least twice — once in cooler conditions and once in warmer conditions, since temperature significantly affects how Middle Eastern fragrances perform

Are your decants from authentic bottles? Yes. All decants are drawn from authentic full bottles purchased through our UAE and Saudi Arabia supply chain. We do not source decants or resell third-party stock.

How long does a 2ml decant last? A 2ml spray vial contains approximately 20–25 sprays. For most fragrances, one or two sprays per wear is appropriate, so a 2ml decant gives you 8–12 full wears.
